Meerlust Estate Rubicon 2018 Red Wine South Africa 75cl
“Dark & Complex”
Pairs well with…
95 Points - Greg Sherwood, The Wine Safari
Grape: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
This is a classically styled, complex Bordeaux-blend, with layer upon layer of black fruit, tea, dried mint, leather, cedar and graphite. In the mouth, it is powerful and broad, with sturdy tannins, and has benefited from time in bottle, becoming velvety and harmonious. Slightly more approachable in its youth, compared to other recent vintages, though it will still age confidently for many years to come.
This will work with roasted or grilled red meat. For vegetarians, robust dishes are the best match, such as miso-roasted aubergine; fried porcini mushrooms or hearty stews based on pulses and tomatoes.
