Situated just 30 km South-East of Beirut in the southern end of the Bekaa Valley, the Château Musar vineyards are famous throughout the whole wine drinking world for the quality of their wines and the great history that lies behind each bottle produced. Gaston Hochar founded Chateau Musar in 1930 inspired by Lebanon's 6,000 year wine making tradition and his travels in Bordeaux. Gaston's son's sons are Ronald Hochar and Serge Hochar who became the Château Musar winemaker in 1959 and was named Decanter's first man of the year in 1984 for dedication to winemaking. Comparisons are sometimes made with Bordeaux wine, Burgundy wine or Rhône wine.
